About Jessica Grasham
I am a Person-Centred MBACP counsellor working with adults on a one-to-one basis. My practice is built on the belief that when we are truly heard and accepted, we find the strength to navigate even the most turbulent seasons of life.
My Background & Journey
My path to counselling has been shaped by a deep appreciation for the human story, language, and the natural world. With an MA in Art History, I began my career in media and the arts before moving into work with children and families as my own four children grew up here in Aberdeenshire.
This background has given me a unique perspective on human development, the power of play, and the vital importance of a nurturing environment. Today, I bring that same warmth and groundedness to my work with adults, providing a steady presence as you find your own way forward.
The Therapeutic Space: Yurt, Nature & Coast
I have lived in Collieston for many years and feel a deep connection to this landscape. I know that life, much like the North Sea, can feel wavy and unsettled. I chose to practice from the Yurt because it provides a quiet, safe sanctuary away from the noise of everyday life.
-
In the Yurt: Nature is a constant companion; you may see horses in the surrounding fields, offering a quiet, grounded presence to our sessions. Chickens also may be roaming around.
-
Walk & Talk: If you prefer to be outdoors, we can use local, risk-assessed coastal routes.
-
Online: I also offer sessions online for those who prefer the comfort of their own space, or live afar.
Specialised Approaches
-
Creative Exploration: While my work is primarily talk-based, I hold a Practitioner Certificate in Therapeutic Creative Arts and can incorporate creative tools if requested.
-
Single Session Therapy: A focused, one-off session for those looking to work through a specific issue or gain immediate clarity.
-
Translation & Language: My experience counselling at GREC and completing the Working with Translators course has given me a deep sensitivity to the nuances of language. I am mindful of how we express our internal worlds and the importance of being truly understood, regardless of the language or medium used.
